Dr. Martens

As we already talked about the Creepers shoes, we should talk about the Dr. Martens boots as well, currently very used by punk, rock and more moderns and daring people generally.

This brand of boots, was created just after the World War II (as Creepers). A German doctor, Klauss Märtens, participant of the was as doctor, fell skiing  by the Bavarian Alps, when he realised that he was wearing boots (the standard army ones) that he could improve. This is when he invents the first model of the Dr.Martens. He made flexible black leather boots with air-cushioned soles, which made them very comfortable.

The doctor did not succeed on selling these boots, until a British manufacturer R. Griggs Group Ltd. bought the patent rights to be able tomanufacture the boots in the UK. Then was when the boots were named as Martens instead of Maertens, for commercial use. He lightly reformed the heel, added the trademark yellow stitching and trademarked the soles as Airway.

It must also be said that the first boots emerged from the 60's with red cherry design, Napa body and eight eyes to put the laces. They became very popular, social groups such as skinheads took these trend as hallmark. Later in the 70's British rock groups and punk as Sex Pistols, The Cash and generally followers of the punk movement shod these boots.

Nowadays is very common to see affiliations with fashion designers and the company doing more fun and informal models of Dr. Martens boots.

Así como ya se habló los zapatos Creepers, a continuación hablaremos de las botas Dr. Martens actualmente muy utilizadas por gente punk, rock y los mas modernos y atrevidos en general.

Esta marca de botas, fueron creadas justo después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial (como creepers). El doctor Alemán, Klauss Märtens, participante de la guerra como medico, cayó esquiando por los Alpes Bávaros, entonces se dió cuenta que las botas que llevaba puestas (las estándar del ejército) aun se podían mejorar. Es aquí cuando inventa el primer modelo de las Dr. Martens. Hizo unas botas con cuero negro flexible y suelas con amortiguación de aire, lo que las hizo muy cómodas

El doctor no tuvo éxito en vender este tipo de botas, hasta que un fabricante británico R. Griggs Group Ltd. compró los derechos de la patente para fabricar estas botas en Reino Unido. Se denominó el nombre de bota Martens en vez de Maertens, por uso comercial. Reformo levemente el tacón, añadió la marca registrada de costura amarilla y comercializó las suelas como Airway.

Hay que decir también que las primeras botas surgieron a partir de los 60', con diseño rojo cereza, cuerpo de Napa y ocho ojos para meter los cordones. Se volvieron muy populares, grupos sociales como los skinheads las tomaron como seña de identidad. Más tarde, en los 70' grupos britanicos de rock y punk como Sex Pistols, The Cash y en general los seguidores del movimiento punk calzaron estas botas.

Hoy en día es muy común ver afiliaciones con diseñadores de moda y esta compañía haciendo modelos divertidos y mas informales de Dr. Martens.
